Guest marketing
Hotel marketing campaigns that arrive where the guest actually reads
A hotel's best audience is the guests it already has, and the surest way to lose them is an email nobody opens. Greetio sends campaigns in the messengers your guests already use — WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber and the rest — to an audience you pick before launch: by stay dates, by channel, by whatever the guest list can filter on. Messages are authored in a wizard, localised per language, checked against opt-in, and delivered one by one with a status you can read per guest. Post-stay feedback runs the same way, either as a one-off campaign or on a trigger after checkout.
- Messengers, not email
- Opt-in respected
- Status per guest
Why hotel marketing to past guests usually fails
Not because the offer is bad. Because the message never gets read.
Email open rates decide everything, and they are low
A promotion sent by email competes with three hundred other emails. The same sentence in WhatsApp is read within minutes, because the guest already talks to you there.
The guest list is a spreadsheet nobody trusts
Picking who should get an offer means exporting, filtering, deduplicating and hoping nobody on the list asked to be left alone. Most hotels give up at step two.
Consent is a legal problem pretending to be a technical one
Messaging a guest who opted out, or sending a WhatsApp message outside the template rules, is not a marketing mistake — it is a compliance one, and it costs the channel.
Nobody knows what happened after send
"We sent 400 messages" is not a report. Which were delivered, which bounced, which guest was suppressed and why — that is the report, and most tools do not produce it.
How a campaign runs
Four steps, with an approval before anything reaches a guest.
- 1
Choose the audience before you write
Filter the guest list by stay dates, by channel, by the attributes your property keeps. The recipients are selected and counted before launch, not estimated afterwards.
- 2
Write it once, in every language you need
The authoring wizard holds one campaign with a message variant per language, so a guest who wrote to you in Italian is not sent a Ukrainian promotion.
- 3
Consent and templates are checked for you
A guest who opted out of a channel is not messaged. WhatsApp sends bind to an approved template, and a recipient who requires opt-in is held back rather than pushed through.
- 4
Delivery is queued, tracked and readable
Messages go out through a delivery queue one by one, and each one carries a status. Where a message did not land, the reason is named in your language — not as an error code.

What the campaign layer holds
With the boundary named, as always.
One-off campaigns and triggered ones
Send a promotion once to a chosen audience, or let a post-stay feedback request go out automatically after checkout.
Audience picked, not guessed
Recipients are selected before launch with optional date ranges, and the list is counted so you know exactly who is getting it.
Localised message variants
One campaign, a version per language, chosen by the language the guest actually writes in.
WhatsApp templates handled properly
Sends bind to an approved template with its components, because WhatsApp does not allow anything else for outbound marketing.
Opt-out and suppression respected
A guest who opted out of a channel, or is on the suppression list, is not messaged — and the campaign report says so rather than silently skipping them.
What it does not do
It does not send email or SMS to guests. Campaigns run on the messenger channels the guest already uses, and that is deliberate — those are the ones they read.
An email blast versus a campaign in the messenger
Same offer, two very different outcomes.
| Email blast from a marketing tool | Greetio campaign | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it lands | An inbox with three hundred unread | The chat the guest already uses |
| Who gets it | An exported list, deduplicated by hand | An audience filtered and counted before launch |
| Language | One version for everyone | A variant per language, matched to the guest |
| Consent | A checkbox somewhere, hopefully | Opt-out and suppression checked before send |
| After send | An open rate | A delivery status per guest, with the reason when it failed |
Scenario: filling a quiet week in November
The property has 40 past guests who stayed in the same season last year.
- The audience was filtered and counted before a single message went out
- Two opt-outs and one missing opt-in were held back rather than pushed through
- The reply landed in the same inbox as every other conversation, and the AI answered it from the property's data
Illustrative. Campaigns send on the messenger channels a property has connected; email and SMS to guests are not channels Greetio sends on.

The unglamorous part is the part that matters
Anyone can send four hundred messages. The work is in the three things around it: picking the right four hundred, not messaging the eleven who asked you not to, and being able to say afterwards which ones actually arrived. That is where a campaign either builds the relationship or quietly burns a channel you cannot get back.
- Audience selected and counted before launch, not estimated after
- Opt-out, suppression and WhatsApp template rules enforced by the system
- A delivery status per guest, with the failure reason in plain language
We stopped sending email nobody opened and started sending forty messages that get read. The quiet week filled.
Guest marketing campaigns: common questions
The messenger channels your property has connected — WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber and the rest of the inbox. Email and SMS to guests are not channels Greetio sends on, by design: campaigns live where the guest already replies to you.
You filter the guest list before launch — by stay dates and the attributes your property keeps — and the recipients are selected and counted before anything is sent. You see the audience size before you commit to it.
They are not messaged. Opt-out and suppression are checked before send, and the campaign result names them as held rather than quietly dropping them from the count.
Outbound WhatsApp marketing has to use an approved template, so campaign sends bind to a template and its components. A recipient who still needs opt-in is held back instead of being pushed through.
Yes. One campaign holds a message variant per language, and the guest gets the one matching the language they write to you in.
Yes. Post-stay feedback runs either as a one-off campaign or on a trigger after the stay ends, using the same audience and language machinery.
A per-guest delivery status, with the reason named in your own language when a message did not land — a guest opted out, a recipient was suppressed, a WhatsApp opt-in was missing. Not an error code.
